Crufts, the world’s largest and most prestigious dog show, has a rich history dating back to 1891. Founded by Charles Cruft, a dog food salesman, the event began as a showcase for terriers but quickly expanded to include all breeds. Today, Crufts is a global phenomenon, attracting thousands of dogs and their handlers from around the world. Organized by The Kennel Club, the show celebrates the diversity, beauty, and working abilities of dogs, while also promoting responsible dog ownership and breeding.
For many breeders and handlers, competing at Crufts is the most important event of their canine careers. The show is not only a platform to showcase the finest examples of each breed but also a celebration of the deep bond between humans and dogs. Winning at Crufts is a lifelong dream for many, as it signifies recognition from some of the most respected judges in the dog world.
For foreign breeders, qualifying to compete at Crufts with a Welsh Corgi is a monumental achievement. The competition is fierce, and the standards are exceptionally high. This year, 155 Pembroke Welsh Corgis and 87 Cardigan Welsh Corgis have been entered, reflecting the enduring popularity and prestige of these breeds.
The judging of these breeds at Crufts 2025 will be overseen by two highly respected figures in the Corgi world. Mrs. B. Piears will judge the Cardigan Welsh Corgis, while Miss L. Roberts will judge the Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Both judges hail from the UK, the mother country of these breeds, adding an extra layer of significance to their roles.
**Arcanedale Kennel’s Journey to Crufts**
This year, Arcanedale Kennel is proud to have two dogs competing at Crufts. In the Pembroke Welsh Corgi category, Arcanedale Violet Skies With Ceranda, affectionately known as “Mila,” will be shown by Cerys Davies. Notably, Cerys was last year’s Crufts judge for the Pembroke Welsh Corgis, making her participation this year even more special.

In the Cardigan Welsh Corgi category, ome dogs from Arcanedale Kennel will be showcased. Arcanedale Hiraeth, known as “Gunner,” will be handled by Jo Hutchings. Jo’s dedication and expertise have been instrumental in bringing this dream to life.

As the owner of Arcanedale Kennel, I cannot express enough gratitude to Jo Hutchings and Cerys Davies for their hard work and commitment. Their passion and skill have made it possible for our dogs to compete on the world’s biggest stage.
Crufts is more than just a dog show; it is a celebration of dedication, passion, and the incredible bond between humans and their canine companions. For Arcanedale Kennel, this year’s competition is a dream come true, and we are honored to be part of such a historic event.
